Glock Gen 4 recoil spring swap for suppressor use?

Aug 31, 2016  Glock Gen 4 recoil spring swap for suppressor use? I've had issues shooting Gen 4 Glocks suppressed and purchased a Gen 3 with separate ISMI springs/recoil rod to adjust the spring weight. The Gen 3 works great and now I'm thinking about one of the Gen 3 recoil

Sep 18, 2011  Re: Wolff steel guide rod and recoil spring in Glock 19 gen 3? G19 normally has a tighter chaimber than say a CZ75, because it was designed to to run full tilt 9mmNATO ammo. The fact that it won't chaimber reloads with dodgy cases cannot be held against the gun.

May 08, 2016  Interesting, Im having FTB on my glock 19 with a silencerco threaded barrel and the Omega that i have in jail at my dealer, now he only uses frangible ammo (80grains ) at the range, maybe that can be the cause ? i tried racking the slide without the can and sometimes (not always) the slide fails to return to battery. Maybe a stronger spring?.

GLOCK Dual Recoil Spring Assembly; G26, G27, G33, G39 (Gen3 & Gen4)

Aug 10, 2017  I've had a Glock 19 since they first came out. I've never changed a part and it still runs without a hiccup. I tried a non Glock barrel and a heavier recoil spring in my Glock 20 and it became a jammomatic. I went back to stock and stay that way with my 19, 20,27,29 and 40. I put tritium night sights on the 20 and 29.

Apr 06, 2011  If the recoil spring becomes "mis-aligned" in the slide, taking the slide down becomes difficult. With the gen 4's, there were some recoil springs that were mis-matched to the hole is the slide. When firing, it would become dislodged and work itself to an angle inside the slide, and this would yield the same symptoms you described.

Oct 20, 2014  Glock not cycling right. Registered Users do not see the above ad. The slide would open and stay open, yet I could see another round in the mag ready to enter the chamber. A Glock replacement guide rod/recoil spring unit is very inexpensive. My Glock 23 started doing similar things, but only after maybe 10,000 rounds through it

The Federal FMJ 95 grain was 100% reliable. No functions were experienced in a box of ammo. I now have three brands of personal defense ammo which I expect to function correctly. It appears the pistol need ammo that is on the high end of the power scaled. My guess is the recoil spring is too heavy and maybe ditto for the magazine spring.

Thats the easiest thing to diagnose. I've had that problem with my glock, and for me it was the placement of my strong hand thumb that was the issue. Stay logged in. The Leading

Glock Gen 4 Problems. As the grip and frame profile is now a little slimmer, Glock had to reshape the slide’s internal design. Comparing Gen 3 and Gen 4 slides, we noticed that there are slight differences especially in stress points where some of the slide’s walls are longer and thicker.

  • Glock 22 Gen 4 concerns (major malfunction)

Dec 20, 2010  "I also wondered about the why and how of the recoil spring system. I strongly suspect this change resulted from Glock’s ongoing effort to build a G22 in .40 SW that won’t malfunction regardless of the ammunition used, with or without the addition of the now almost ubiquitous lights and lasers hung on the gun’s dust cover.

  • Tactical Tupperware: This is a Glock Thread

Every time I remove the slide from my Glock, the rear end of the recoil spring guide rod is never really settled nicely into the semi-circle area where it's supposed to rest. Instead, it always seems to be pushing its way out due to the tension on it from the spring.

Mar 02, 2017  2 DIY Upgrades to Get the Most Out of Your Glock While Glock’s Gen4 dual recoil spring assembly does a good job of reducing recoil, the GlockStore’s Heavy Tungsten Guide Rod can help reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil even further for faster targeting and follow-up shots.

  • Modifying My Glock

A third way to achieve the recoil spring force you want is to modify a heavy spring (such as the stock or perhaps a 15 lbs spring) in a different manner than just clipping coils (which, honestly, is a rather primitive approach).
