New Front Leaf Springs & Caster Shims
Aug 07, 2011 I took my old front leaf springs off and found 2 caster shims under each leaf spring and Im not sure if they were put on from the factory, it does look like old factory stampings on them. One of them was broken in half and the others still in okay shape. My question is since I am putting new leaf spring sets on will the shims still be necessary.

This changes the driveshaft angle, which ultimately reduces the pinion angle. I wanted to wind up with about 2° of pinion angle when I was done. With my current 10 ½° pinion angle, I would have been inclined to order 8° shims. But, after thinking about the yoke moving up, lessening the driveshaft angle, I decided to order 6° shims.

Installing Leaf Spring Shims?
May 11, 2010 Is the Pin just Supposed to go through the Shims without them getting actually getting Bolted to them? If I try to Install the Shims now, with the Overload still in the Spring Pack, the Pin isn't Long enough to go through the Shim and come Out the other Side and go through into the Axle Plate. So then a Longer Pin is Needed.
